Annual Rally 2006 - 30th June/2nd July

 

 

Friday - 30th June 2006

Sixteen members enjoyed a balmy evening cruise on the Countess of Evesham leaving Stratford upon Avon at 7:30 and returning about 11:00. A very relaxing evening where members could meet old friends and make new new ones. A much deserved thanks to Richard Smith for organising the trip.

Marcos Tour of Stafford A delayed departure meant that one or two stops at points of interest had to be cut out, but everyone enjoyed the tour, and, it seems, no one got completely lost.

Overnight on Saturday Members staying at Express by Holiday Inn, Stafford arrived from the Tour of Stafford or Curborough just in time to see England being knocked out of the World Cup by Portugal!  Spirits were raised a little later in the evening with Murray winning his match at Wimbledon. In a departure from tradition the evening dinner was a buffet. Perhaps not quite the style we are used to for the annual rally it had the benefit of not requiring us to remember what we had ordered two months previously.  It also gave the more adventurous the opportunity of trying out steak pie with a choice of Chinese dishes!

The Annual Concours The annual Concours judging and prize giving took place this year at Shugborough Hall, Stafford. Many thanks to the judges this year, Rory McMath and Bob Walder.
